Introducing Kya López, the rising star from Mexico City who is taking the hip hop and R&B scene by storm. Influenced by her father, a skilled singer, and multi-instrumentalist her love for music began at a young age . However, it wasn't until Kya discovered Hip-Hop that she truly found her calling. She felt that the genre allowed her to express herself in a unique way, so she decided to pursue a career in music.

Despite facing numerous challenges and obstacles, Kya never gave up on her dream. While studying Food Engineering at UPIBI IPN, she found a community of like-minded individuals with whom she collaborated and honed her craft. These experiences led to her debut EP XILEMA, showcasing Kya's powerful lyrics and soulful voice.

What inspires your music?

Leaving my reality for just a moment. The most important thing to me is leaving a good message. I love rhythms that make you dance and fill you with energy.

Who are some of your influences?

All my life, I have listened to rap, so most of it is that. Álvaro Díaz, Kali Uchis, Kanye West, and Mac Miller also inspire me.

What are some of your favorite memories from your career?

I got to collaborate and sing on the same stage with several artists I had admired for a long time. It’s something that I never imagined could happen.

Which of your songs/EPs/albums is your favorite and why?

Xilema. It’s my first project, named after the root Xylem (from which my true identity emerges). It holds significant meaning to me as it represents a turning point in my career. There was a clear before and after since the release of Xilema.

Who are some of the collaborators who helped you create your favorite works?

My favorite producer is Eilehx, with whom I began working on my EP XILEMA. He helped create the beats, wrote the lyrics with me, and managed all the engineering. Working with him has been an amazing experience, as we share great chemistry and he truly understands my vision. I believe that an artist is nothing without a producer, and I feel fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated producer in my corner.

I was later joined by Drannel and Khyan, who are both incredibly talented composers. They have helped me give my songs a fresh and unique touch, taking my music to the next level. I am grateful to have such a dedicated team surrounding me, and I look forward to creating more amazing music together.

What are you most excited to bring to your fans next?

I'm excited to bring some wild rhythms to my fans that represent my Mexican culture while staying true to the essence of Kya Lopez. We're currently working on the live act, and there are some surprises in store for everyone.

What are your goals for this upcoming year?

My goal is to reach and connect with more people with my music. I’m aiming to release my second EP later this year.

How can your fans and our readers best support you right now?

Ha ha, they can invite me to their parties! But seriously, they can follow me on social media to stay updated on my new music. Sharing my content would also be a huge help. And, I'd really love it if they check out my latest single “Castaño”. It's one of my favorite songs and perfect for anyone who's heartbroken.
